2. How to master your interview

PART 2

1. Who are you ? Take a stand

In the first stage, you need to take a stand and say who you are. This is a hook for your interlocutor. Therefore, it must be brief and to the point, because you will not have much time to do it. The information must be chosen carefully and relevantly, according to the following guiding principle: What do you want your potential employer to take away from you?

It is advisable to start with your name and your current situation to remind your interviewer who you are. Then you can select the three most important experiences from your career and briefly introduce them.

Do not hesitate to mention one or two unusual details to set your recruiter apart and differentiate your presentation from those they have already heard throughout the day.

Finally, take the time to point out a particularly formative experience that provides you with the ideal transition for the second phase.

2. What do you want ? Define your goals

Then you need to communicate your goals by explaining what you want. Draw on the experience you have highlighted to define more precisely your values, your desires, and your expectations. What exactly are you looking for? In what area do you want to work, develop, progress?

Emphasize the reasons for your motivation, while remaining honest with yourself and do not hesitate to illustrate what you are saying with concrete examples. During the interview, you can take the opportunity to insert prepared keywords, such as: Strategy, Teamwork, Coordination, Curiosity, etc., which you have naturally chosen according to the position you are seeking.

Why are you here ? Stand out

Finally, be sure to state why you are attending this interview so that you can stand out from other applicants. Remember, the recruiter wants to know why you chose their company and not another. In what ways do you think you can be helpful? What skills, attributes and experience do you bring to the table? In other words: Why are you here?

Because you share the same values as the hiring company? Because you heard information about the company or read articles you liked?

Be clear and make open eye contact with the recruiter during the interview: no one wants to work with an applicant who has been staring at a dot on the wall the entire interview
